Today we’re excited to be speaking with Logan Matlock from Goosehead Insurance. He’s an expert in his field and a great partner of ours, so we wanted to ask him a few questions about insurance. Let’s get into it.
Thanks so much for joining us. What do you do at Goosehead?
We shop around the insurance market. The way insurance works these days, people are overwhelmed with commercials claiming to save people money in 15 minutes. There are also tons of online insurances run by tech companies that claim to be quicker and easier than the competition. Our job is to broker on our clients’ behalves and find the best rate possible for them.
We only work with A-rated companies in the standard market, so our clients know they’re receiving adequate coverage. However, we shop for the best rates, tell them how their insurance policies work, and consult them through the process. Insurance is a contract, so we want our clients to know what they’re getting into before they sign up.
Insurance can be a pretty complicated topic. What is something people tend to have questions about?
Our clients usually have two main concerns. First, they want to know what their policies cover. For example, if lightning strikes their house, do they have to pay to make the fixes themselves? Next, they want to know how much money their policies cover. I also always talk to my clients about liability insurance. It’s crucial but not something most people discuss.
I appreciate how you aren’t biased. Geico might be one person’s best policy, but that might not be true for everyone. What sets you apart from other companies that do something similar?
We aren’t the only insurance brokerage, but we stand out because we go out of our way to educate our clients. People often look at insurance through a pigeonholed view, but it’s protecting your entire financial portfolio. You need to understand what’s going on to make sure you have the protection you need.
